Bear River socks, R0424
Being a big, cuddly bear of a man himself, Wim identifies with that animal. Hense the name ‘Mr Knitbear’. Wim designed the sock with an easy to knit fair isle pattern, because he thinks most people are scared of doing fair isle or stranded colorwork. This will make the learning process much easier. He tends to reach for bright and saturated colors when he knits socks and made such a bold color choices in REGIA 4-ply. As the REGIA sock patterns are now named after rivers he googled and found that „The Bear River“ exists – in the Western part of Canada.

Chaak Tun socks, R0425
Dennis has been interested in ancient cultures ever since he was a young adult: Greek and Roman mythology, the cultures of the Maya, Aztecs and Inca, and many others. He is inspired by the art of these cultures. One famous Mayan symbol is the two-headed eagle. It represents a god with two faces: one looks toward goodness, the other toward evil; or toward heaven and earth, past and future, or forwards and backwards at the same time. These socks are named after a subterranean river in the Chaak Tun caves. This was a sacred place for the Maya. Chaak is the god of rain, and for the Maya, the cave was Chaak's rain of stones. The motif on the back of the socks is a graphic depiction of waves in the river.

There are knit stitches and purl stitches and almost infinite pattern variations that are created from these two stitches like our Garonne Socks. Knitted in REGIA4-ply it´s the diamond pattern on the leg that makes them special, as well as the Italian cast-on. It's a tad more complicated, but definitely worth the effort. The edging becomes elastic and soft - as if made for comfortable socks. Instructions includes sizes 36 – 49.
